Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 2026

1. Introduction

HyperBook ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our mobile application and services, including our academic oversight features.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account Information: We collect your name and email address to create and secure your account.
  • Linking Identifiers: For students, we generate a unique "Student ID" (e.g., HB-XXXX) which allows authorized parents or guardians to request a connection to your account.
  • Academic Content: We store the images of study materials you upload for at least 30 days and the questions/answers generated are stored permanently in your account. Your uploaded answer images are also kept for at least 90 days before archiving.
  • Performance Data: We collect data on your subjects and assessment performance to track progress and personalize AI evaluations.

3. Parent/Guardian Oversight & Support

HyperBook includes features designed to allow parents or guardians to support and fund a student's learning journey:

  • Consensual Linking: A student account can only be linked to a parent account if the student explicitly accepts a "Linking Request."
  • Data Visibility: Once linked, the authorized parent/guardian will have visibility into the student's study goals, scheduled exams, final grades, and detailed AI feedback.
  • Financial Support (Credit Transfers): Parents can facilitate premium access for their wards. A parent may purchase a balance of "Premium Credits" and transfer them to a linked student account. These credits are then used by the student account to activate monthly premium features.

4. How We Process & Store Data

We operate globally with a focus on security:

  • Storage: Your personal data is stored securely in databases located in the European Union (EU) and the United States (USA).
  • AI Processing: Study materials are processed by our dedicated AI servers located on-premise in Ghana or within the EU.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. We share data only with:

  • Authorized Guardians: Any parent or guardian that the student has explicitly approved via the linking process can view the student's academic progress and premium status.
  • Infrastructure Providers: Service providers (e.g., Google Firebase, RevenueCat, Paystack) strictly for the purpose of delivering the service and processing payments.

6. User Rights & Safety

You have the right to request a copy of your data or request account deletion at any time. Furthermore:

  • Unlinking: Students or parents may revoke the account connection at any time through the application settings.
  • Content Safety: If you report generated material as offensive or inaccurate, we will block that content immediately and investigate the incident.
